OUR PHILOSOPHY
The Image of the Child
Children are viewed as competent, curious, natural researchers who are full of knowledge, potential and interested in connecting to the world around them.
An Emergent Learning Process
Ideas are discussed, investigations are shared and opportunities are created to extend and build upon theories that are uncovered. In this way of collaborative working, learning journeys and inquiries may occur that could last for days, weeks or even a whole term.
Children are connected
A child is a member of a family and a community. We foster building upon community relationships and involvement, evoking a sense of belonging in the child and an awareness of their place in the community.
Role Of Educators
Educators as practitioners in early childhood, who work directly or indirectly with Children (Imra Siraj-Blatchford). They are deliberate, Purposeful and reflective. They are scaffolders, creators and facilitators who encourage and support children to create quality, engaging environment for their own learning and development.
The Role of Families
Families are active contributors to the process of discovery and learning. Relationships are based on co-operation and mutual respect for our reciprocal roles in nurturing the child. They are first teachers and that the best outcomes for children are achieved by working in partnership with families. We believe that diversity adds richness to our program and provides opportunities to learn about differences and similarities, and to find ways to support each other as a community.
Role of environment
Through the conscious use of the space, colour, light, mirrors, displays of children’s art and attention to aesthetics and nature, the environment plays a crucial role and is referred to as the “Third Teacher”. Space is designed to encourage encounters, investigation, responsibility to place environmental sustainability, exploration, and discovery.
